Meet The Pastor
Rev. Dexter G. Moragne
Rev. Dexter G. Moragne, the last of four children born to the union of Charles and Sarah Moragne, accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He acknowledged and received his call into the ministry, and was soon licensed and ordained to preach the Word. In May, 1989 Rev. Moragne received the call to become Pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church.
Under his leadership, the church membership and ministries have experienced growth like no other period in its history. He led the effort to rebuild the church after a devastating fire in 1990; the construction and dedication of the Community Resource Center for which God blessed the ministry with the opportunity to minister a blessing to the community; and the expansion of the deacon and trustee ministries as well as the ministerial staff. The Center has been named Dexter G. Moragne Center Family Life Center in November of 2021 and will burn the Mortgage in December of 2022.
He was educated in Tennessee public schools and is a graduate of G. W. Carver High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He continued his education earning an Associate in Science degree in Accounting from State Technical Institute in Memphis, Tennessee and Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Christian Brother College in Memphis, Tennessee. Rev. Moragne has had a myriad of education and training in the ministry including the award of a Master of Divinity degree from Memphis Technological Seminary and is currently an instructor for the National Baptist Convention, USA.
He is married to Mrs. Rita Moragne and have two children Dexter Brian Moragne, Brandon N. Moragne(Carlisha Moragne), and Grandchildren Brayson and Briley Moragne. A true man of God who lives by his philosophy as pastor to genuinely guard the souls of those who have been entrusted in his care, grow and develop the church as a whole and actively oversee all ministries within the church body. He is excited to follow Christ and lead the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church family to the next level of ministry.
